Description

Jean Michel Basquia completed this painting "Untitled" and "Untitled" in 1982, which is one of the most important Basquia works in his private collection. Represents a critical moment in an artist's creative career.

He held his first major solo exhibitions in the same year at the Anna Nosei Gallery in New York and the Gagosian Gallery in Los Angeles. Thick coated paint sticks, acrylic colors, and spray paint add a sense of layering to the canvas, while the vibrant and vibrant colors demonstrate Basquia's skillful and ingenious use of colors.

The momentum and energy emanating from the work reflect Basquia's early attempts at graffiti, laying the foundation for the new concrete painting that swept the New York art scene in the early 1980s from downtown Manhattan.

The skull like portrait in this painting is similar to other well-known works by Basquia, especially the 1981 Untitled work in the collection of The Broad Museum in Los Angeles. The screen is filled with classic images commonly used by Basquia: intricate skull structures, trident crowns, and scribbled text filled with images.
