Description

Waterloo Bridge in fog, the size of this exhibit is 65.3x101 cm, which is just one of a series of famous London landscapes created by Monet in the late Impressionism period. Although Monet primarily focuses on rural landscapes, urban themes are not the first to appear in his works.

In his London works, the central theme is fog, which changes the wonderful ways of light, air, and atmosphere, almost devouring buildings. Capturing the fleeting moments gives Impressionism its name, which is replaced by the analysis of complex color nuances in flickering and changing light.

The artist's trips to London in 1889, 1900, and 1901 always seemed to take place during the foggy season. From the room of the Savoy Hotel, Monet can see the scenery of Waterloo Bridge over the Thames.
Hermitag's oil paintings come from a series that showcases this, and the work was completed in the artist's studio at Givenny.
