Description

This white jade carved double earring and ear cap bottle with a gluttonous pattern and a dragon button is believed to have been made by the Qing Dynasty in the 24th year of the Qianlong reign (1759) after the pacification of the Zhungeer and Hui tribes in Xinjiang. According to a transcript from the first year of the Daoguang reign, "After the pacification of Xinjiang, more than 4000 pieces of jade were brought in from Hetian and Yeerqiang each year." During the 52nd year from the 25th year of the Qianlong reign to the 17th year of the Jiaqing reign, over 200000 kilograms of jade and stone raw materials were paid as tribute alone. After solving the problem of jade road obstruction, a large amount of beautiful jade flowed into the palace and Suyang, and the production and scale of the palace and jade artifacts reached unprecedented heights. This bottle cap is the pinnacle of its time. This product has a delicate shape and a unique design. It is made of high-quality white jade and carved entirely, especially its dragon button, which is extremely rare. The bottle cap is a flat circular shape with an oval mouth, short neck, and a flat belly. The curve of the flat belly gradually expands outward from the top, and then contracts inward from the middle to the circular foot. The design is exquisite and rigorous. The neck is adorned with symmetrical head rings on both sides. The mouth of the mother and son, as well as the circular feet, are engraved with a circular pattern, and the main body is embossed with a gluttonous pattern. The shape of the Panlong button is complete and detailed, with extremely delicate knife handling and exquisite carving techniques. The requirements for jade materials and craftsmanship are very high. Upon closer inspection of the carved patterns on the bottle body, it embodies the popular style of the Qing Dynasty Qianlong period in the imperial court, with a strong style of royal artifacts.
