何朝宗生活在明代嘉靖、万历间。自幼受环境熏陶，喜爱瓷塑工艺，拜当地艺人为师。早年为宫庙泥塑各种神仙佛像，如德化碧象岩的观音、下尾宫的大使、程田寺的善才、东岳庙的小鬼，形象逼真。这些泥塑有的保留至清末和民国时代。他的瓷塑作品，吸收泥塑、木雕和石刻造像的各种技法，结合瓷土特性，博取各家之长，形成独具一格的"何派"艺术。他所塑造的各种古佛神仙，发挥传统雕塑"传神写意"的长处，微妙地表现人物的内心世界，富有神韵。He Chaozong lived between Jiajing and Wanli in the Ming Dynasty. From an early age by environmental edification, like porcelain plastic craft, worship local artists as teachers. In his early years, he made clay sculptures of various immortals and Buddhas, such as the goddess of mercy at the Jade Elephant Rock in Dehua County, the ambassador at the lower tail palace, the sage at the Chengtian Temple, and the devil in Dongyue Temple. Some of these clay sculptures were retained until the end of the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. His porcelain sculpture works absorb various techniques of clay sculpture, wood carving and stone carving, combine the characteristics of porcelain clay, gain the advantages of each family, and form a unique "he school" art. The various ancient Buddhas and immortals created by him display the merits of "vivid and freehand brushwork" in traditional sculpture, and subtly express the inner world of the characters, which is rich in charm.
