In 1889, Guangdong Province made a sample coin of the Guangxu Yuanbao Kuping Seven Coins and Three Fen "Guangbian" thickened trial casting. The coin was exquisitely crafted, with a mirrored base that was as shiny as new, sharp edges and teeth, and a full set of dragon scales. It had a strong sense of three dimensionality, with a blue-green European coating and top-notch appearance. It was made by the Birmingham Mint in the UK and trial cast by the Guangdong Mint.
