The Ji blue glazed white dragon patterned plum vase is a representative work of Yuan Dynasty porcelain products and an extremely eye-catching artistic treasure among Yuan Dynasty blue glazed vessels. This plum vase has a small mouth, a short neck, and a flat edge. The shoulders are plump and gradually smooth, gradually converging below the shoulders and slightly sloping towards the bottom. Its shape is very exquisite. Although the Yuan Dynasty plum vase inherited the style of the Song Dynasty plum vase, the mouth had been raised, the rim was flatter, and the shoulders were fuller. On this plum vase, the white dragon body, engraved with scales, curves and undulates, and its dynamics are consistent with the fluttering of hair. It vividly depicts a giant dragon soaring in the sky with a divine form. The agile posture, fluttering beard and hair, hard teeth, and sharp claws all showcase the majesty and grandeur of the dragon. The space around the giant dragon is adorned with four fluttering flame shaped cloud patterns, further highlighting the dragon's dominance. The outer wall of the plum vase is coated with Ji blue glaze, while the cloud dragon pattern is coated with a light blue white glaze. Blue glaze is deep and ancient, while blue and white glaze is fresh and pure. The contrast between the two colored glazes is very sharp. Ji blue glaze is the color of the chemical element cobalt. This Ji blue glaze has a bright color, with a slight purple tint in the blue, and may be fired from imported cobalt material. The successful firing of high-temperature blue glaze added new varieties to the color glaze of porcelain, laying the foundation for the highly developed porcelain industry in Jingdezhen during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
