Zhao Zhan, a Ming dynasty calligrapher and painter, lived in seclusion in the Songxi River with a picture lens. His courtesy name was Xiyuan and he was from Huating (now Songjiang, Shanghai). He is knowledgeable and capable of writing, and learned from Zhao Zuo. It is recorded that he was once ghostwritten by Dong Qichang, and Wang Shimin and others were all excerpted.
