Description

The Guangxu Yuanbao was the first large denomination currency in circulation during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty. It was one of the first circulating currencies in China to introduce overseas technology, and also holds certain historical significance for today. The Guangxu Yuanbao minted in Guangdong Province belongs to a large series in the history of modern Chinese machine coinage, with a long casting period (from the 22nd year of Guangxu to the 34th year of Guangxu [1896 to 1908]). After more than ten years, the coin molds have been replaced several times, and even in the same casting year, many factors such as mold repair, coin materials, craftsmanship, and factory management often result in extremely complex editions.
