Description

The Tang Jiyao Commemorative Silver Coin was manufactured and issued by Yunnan Province in commemoration of the victory of the anti Yuan support for the Republic, hence it is also known as the Tang Jiyao Support for the Republic Commemorative Silver Coin. It was one of the main circulating currencies in Yunnan Province during the Republic of China period, with two versions of Tang Jiyao's side and front. The dates of the manufacture of these two types of silver coins are still inconsistent: Wang Shoulian's book "Reference to Rare Coins in China" suggests it was the first year of the Republic of China, Shi Jiagan's "Research on Modern Chinese Coinage", Jiang Zhongchuan's "Illustrated Explanation of Chinese Gold, Silver and Nickel Coins", Xu Zuqin's "Catalogue of Chinese Coins" and other books suggest it was the fourth year of the Republic of China; Geng Aide's book "Illustrated Explanation of Chinese Coins" suggests that Tang Jiyao's obverse resemblance was the fifth year of the Republic of China, and his profile resemblance was the sixth year of the Republic of China; Zhang Huixin's book "Catalogue of Chinese Currency History" suggests that the profile resemblance is the fifth year of the Republic of China, and the obverse resemblance is the eighth year of the Republic of China; "ConcThe Dictionary believes that both were manufactured in the seventh year of the Republic of China. The above-mentioned monographs state that they have not been cited, or the citations are unclear. The main reason for this is the lack of historical materials. From 1907 to 1918, the Yunnan Mint produced a silver coin with a face value of only three coins and six cents. There are two types of denominations: side portrait and front portrait. The first edition of the silver coin produced in August of the 6th year of the Republic of China was a side portrait of Tang Jiyao. Starting from October 1st of the 7th year of the Republic of China, a silver coin with a front portrait of Tang Jiyao was produced. The front center bears the head of Tang Jiyao, and the outer edge bears the "Commander of the Military Affairs Council Tang". The back center bears a five pointed star, crossed iron blood eighteen star flag, and five star flag, and the outer bottom bears the "Support for the Republic" and the value. The two sides are divided into flower stars.
