Description

This statue has a curled mouth, thick neck, curved belly, rounded ridge, and a foot wall with an outer curl. The bottom book is made of blue and white raised material from the Qianlong era, with a double circle regular script style. The fetal body is thick and heavy, the fetal material is delicate, the glaze is plump and moist, the shape is standardized, and it is dignified and atmospheric. What is worth marveling is the abundance of art and composition. There are four groups, each with a large peony as the main image, with "Ji" and "Ji" written in the center Xiang, Ru, Yi There are also four pairs of intersecting characters: tangled branches turning into lotus, chrysanthemums, and wintersweet. The peonies are surrounded by lilies and pomegranates, while loquats and peaches are paired with rolled grass patterns. Implying blessings, longevity, beauty, and auspiciousness. The gold strokes are located along the mouth and shoulder, with seven layers of Ruyi pattern, Jiaoye pattern, Zhuanruyi pattern, and Yanglian pattern. The inner wall and bottom of the statue are decorated with turquoise green glaze, which is the standard color for the official kiln. The flowers and patterns are exquisitely crafted, and the sapphire blue is pure and lush. The smooth and neat touch of the rolling strokes is remarkable, with a total of seven layers of auspicious numerical character. Rolling track technology is a new decorative technique created during the Qianlong period. It is to first apply a layer of glass white on top of the porcelain blank, then apply glaze, and use a sharp tool resembling an embroidery needle to draw a phoenix tail shaped decoration that is as thin as a hair and as fine as a brocade pattern. The flower pattern is drawn on the ground, which has the artistic effect of copper body painting enamel, and this process is quite laborious. In the records of the Qing Palace's Internal Affairs Office, this newly created decorative pattern is called "icing on the cake", while Jingdezhen artists refer to it as "picking flowers". As long as there is porcelain with rolling process, both cultural value, artistic value, and economic value are very high, making it the top quality among official kilns. The rolling process of different eras has different characteristics. The Qianlong period was the peak of porcelain making in China, and its rolling process was extremely exquisite, with regular and delicate lines. The overall temperament of this vessel is elegant and magnificent, with a deep and serene gem blue ground. The tangled branches of peonies and various flowers are luxurious and exquisite, and the seven layers of decorative patterns are auspicious and complete. It is a rare masterpiece of the Qianlong official kiln.
